Cultural Inclusivity
Learning to be an Ally: Advocacy through Humility and Silence

Friday, May 12th 1 - 4 PM

During these times, opposites are not attracting and folks are not agreeing to disagree.  Xenophobia is at a new high among many, and harm comes to those who look or behave differently from those who aren’t familiar or disagree with they see. This training gives the participants opportunities to assess their abilities to communicate with others with whom they believe they have very little in common.  Responding with humility is an important aspect of cultural responsiveness and, for many, skills will need to be developed to better understand oneself in an environment where diversity should be honored, but is not.  The workshop will offer tools to use that allow one to listen actively, respond with an open mind and perhaps help others to do the same.  These are a few of the keys to advocacy, building community and living in a diverse society.
